What is composite photography?

Composite photography more commonly referred to as Photoshopping is the process of blending two or more images to create a single image.In this case, it would be a photograph of the diffuser and a relevant and appropriate stock image.

Why use composite photography?

We use composite photography as a cost-effective solution to lifestyle photography. We understand the marketplace and we also understand budgets. That’s why we try and cater to everyone’s needs. Composite photography allows you to choose a stock images that reflect and reinforce your brand and brand image.

When would you use composite photography?

Let’s say for example that you want some lifestyle photography for a scent diffuser that you’ve brought to market. You can imagine the diffuser in a contemporary lounge. One that shouts luxury and class, but you’re limited by your budget. You know that lifestyle photography can sway your customers into buying your diffuser. What are your options?

Option 1 – Take your chances.
You can take a risk and opt to forget lifestyle photography.

Option 2 – Brace yourself and take the plunge.
This option can be time-consuming and costly. First off, we need to find a suitable location for the photography. One that fits the brand values of the product. Once we’ve done that, we need to book the place, this could also take some time. We like to ensure that the client is on location. This allows them to feed into the process. Sometimes that isn’t possible because they don’t have the time. How do we overcome this?

Option 3 – Composite photography
The most cost-effective option in this scenario is to use composite photography.  It’s a cost-effective option and you have countless stock images to choose from. (Don’t worry, we’ll do the hard work and find you some samples to choose from).

We’ll set up the shot of the diffuser, once you’ve chosen the stock image so that it blends seamlessly into the image. This includes matching the focal length, angle, and lighting. We’ll then blend the photograph into the stock image. We also ensure that the scale of the diffuser is accurate to its surroundings.  We’ll make a few final tweaks in Photoshop to ensure that it looks realistic.
